Who We Are
We believe that true artistic development happens through hands-on experience, shared exploration, and meaningful connection — not just technique.
Led by working artists and experienced educators, our programs blend academic art traditions with contemporary approaches. Professional insight, paired with individualized attention, helps every student discover their own artistic rhythm and style.
At Fallsview Arts, we value the creative journey of the individual. Our weekly art classes and seasonal workshops are led by professional artists and experienced instructors who share a collective commitment to mentorship, craftsmanship, and creative growth. Each brings a broad understanding of fine art techniques and the flexibility to adapt instruction to different levels, goals, and learning styles. We encourage curiosity, experimentation, and artistic confidence through a balance of structure and freedom.
Rooted in both nature’s flow and artistic tradition, we guide students of all levels to discover and express their unique voice. Fallsview Arts celebrates creativity and community through painting, drawing, and a variety of weekly visual art classes and workshops in an inspiring Hudson Valley setting.
Conveniently located and easily accessible to artists across Westchester, Putnam, Dutchess, Fairfield (CT), and the greater NYC and Hudson Valley region.
About the Founder
Founded by Sarah Miller Totten, a professional visual artist and educator with more than 15 years of teaching experience. Fallsview Arts offers an integrated program of study that blends a classic and academic foundation with modern exploration.
Drawing on her extensive background in painting, drawing, and mixed media, Sarah has created a curriculum designed to meet each student where they are—cultivating technical skill, creative confidence, and personal expression.
As both a teacher and a working artist, Sarah leads by example, demonstrating that art-making is a lifelong practice of discovery and renewal. Her leadership shapes the spirit of Fallsview Arts—a place where artists of all levels can learn, create, and share within a supportive community.

History of the Building
Overlooking the East Branch River, Fallsview Arts is located in what was once known as the Juengst Complex, a 1889 printing press, part of the original hydroelectric system for the old Croton Aqueduct Reservoir System used for NYC drinking water.
The old Juengst Complex, also known as the Croton Executive Park is conveniently located off of Rt. 22, just north of the junction of Rt. 6 and Rt. 202 in Brewster, NY. To locals, the area is also known as Juengstville, a very small hamlet of Northern Westchester on the Putnam County border. The Juengst family has deep roots to the area and were the first to bring electric power to North Salem and surrounding Northern Westchester towns just after the Civil War.
Today, among other creatives in the complex, you will find Fallsview Arts, located in the oldest suite of the historic Juengst Complex. This beautiful historic space still contains many of the originally restored walls and steel beams providing the perfect backdrop for endless artistic inspiration and the beautiful soothing sounds and views overlooking the East Branch River.
