Emily Fountain
Photographer and Teaching Artist
Emily Fountain is a photographer and teaching artist at Fallsview Arts, where she leads digital photography lessons and workshops. Her work grows out of a lifelong connection to the natural world, and her teaching invites students in Northern Westchester and Putnam County to slow down and look closely.
Emily spent her childhood roaming the woods, and nature has stayed at the center of her art ever since. She began making photographs in high school, when she also interned with local sculptor Ivan Biro. Those early experiences led her to a degree in art from Purchase College, where she explored many forms of art and found ways to combine them in her own work.
After college, Emily turned to teaching to share her passion for art and found a community among fellow teaching artists. Today she is the Education Coordinator and Assistant Curator at Lasdon Public Gardens, where she runs a homeschool art program and a family garden club that introduces young families to the wonders of growing food.
