Laura Schmidt

Teaching Artist at Fallsview Arts

I am a Mahopac, N.Y. native.  I went off to Rhode Island School of Design for an undergrad in Fine Arts, which was formative and intense. My last year in college was spent in Rome, Italy, where I was exposed to layers of masterful work in the arts and architecture throughout Rome and other parts of Europe. While living in Italy, I realized that I also have a deep fascination with language.

Now, I work as an English as a Second Language teacher for Dutchess Community College.

I am a mother, I am an avid cyclist, and an artist. I have grown to understand that inspiration is wonderful, but a little overrated. Discipline, showing up to do the work, is how I have learned to make progress in anything, even if it is little by little.
