Explore Ink Drawing Techniques
Start with simple exercises, then develop a drawing using an Inktober prompt or your own idea. Along the way, Alexia will help you explore:
Line weight: vary your lines to create emphasis and depth.
Hatching and cross-hatching: build shadows and texture with layered marks.
Solid black shapes: add contrast and give your illustration impact.
Visual storytelling: use your subject and composition to express an idea.
You’ll have time to experiment, ask questions, and receive guidance as your drawing develops. Share your work with the group or post it with #inktober if you’d like.
Who Can Join?
This workshop welcomes adults and teens at every experience level, including beginners. It’s a great fit if you enjoy sketching, comics, or illustration—or simply want to try a new drawing medium.
You don’t need to participate in the full Inktober challenge to attend.
Materials and What to Bring
Your sketchbook of choice, pencil, erasers and pens or ink of your choice. Optional: bring an iPad and stylus if you prefer to draw digitally.
