Studio Sculpture for Teens and Adults

This sculpture class at Fallsview Arts is designed for teens and adults who want a deeper, more focused experience working in three dimensions. Led by sculptor and educator Keith Yerger, the class emphasizes hands-on making, material understanding, and thoughtful development of form across a range of sculptural approaches.

Rather than following a one-size-fits-all curriculum, students engage in guided projects and individual work that supports personal interests while building strong technical foundations. Instruction balances demonstration, discussion, and one-on-one feedback, creating space for both structured learning and independent exploration.

What You’ll Work On

Students explore both additive and constructive sculptural processes, with projects that may include:

• Clay modeling and form development

• Armature building and structural planning

• Relief sculpture

• Mixed-media and contemporary sculptural methods

Throughout the course, emphasis is placed on form, balance, proportion, surface, and craftsmanship, helping students develop skills that translate across materials and sculptural styles.

Seasonal Stone Sculpture Option

At select times of year, stone sculpture may be offered as a seasonal option within the class. When available, students are introduced to foundational stone-carving techniques, tools, and safety practices, with an emphasis on subtractive process, material resistance, and intentional decision-making.

Stone work is offered selectively and integrated thoughtfully, depending on timing, materials, and student readiness.
